Lauren creates quilts for sale in three categories: Art Quilts; Memorial Quilts; and Works by Comission.
I create my Art Quilts in all sizes and shapes exploring unique combinations of color and texture possible through the exciting medium. Inspiration for my larger quilts often comes from my own personal experiences as a human rights lawyer or in celebration of turning points in the struggle for women's rights around the world.
Memorial Quilts combine new techniques using computer pigments for color fast printing photos and drawings on fabric. They celebrate people and events in our lives: birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, new babies or memorials. Patrons provide hard copy or digital photos which are either scanned or loaded into the computer where they can be manipulated and incorporated into original, unique art quilts in color schemes chosen by the patron. All original photos are returned to the patron. Memorial Quilts range in size from 2' x 3' to 3' x 4' and price from $250 to $400.
Works by Commission are created to meet the needs and preferences of the patron for size, theme and color scheme. Original drawings forming the basis for the work are reviewed and approved by the patron before work on the piece begins. Commissions are guided by a standard artist contract which spells out time frames, cost and payment schedule. If desired, included with all commissioned work is a presentation by the artist.
