In plain words, Vanessa Johnson is a Griot - the village keeper of oral history, a storyteller who so enthralls her audiences that they 'see' her characters, share their joy and feel their suffering.
Through her company Mosi Village Enterprises, Vanessa brings african-american history and culture to life through presentations, workshops and original art for audiences of all ages at schools, universities, community groups and cultural events. Her Africa Bound program takes Syracuse teens on life-changing travel to visit west-african countries, experience the culture and share their own.
“Like the Sankofa Bird of the Akan people of West Africa, I believe all of us, but particularly our young people, must look to the past in order to know how to move forward. Welcome! I hope you'll enjoy your visit!&rdquo
